The Food Share program was introduced in part as a community response to the growing needs for healthy food access and delivery as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, and includes the Good Food Box and Hot Meal programs.

With the help of volunteers, partners and funders, In 2020, from April to December, we supported our community and delivered:

  • 11, 447 Good Food Boxes
  • 25, 989 Hot Meals

Our ‘Good Food Boxes’ are healthy food hampers that are delivered directly to individuals and families. The boxes vary in size based on family size, and include a variety of fresh, local fruit and vegetables, eggs, cheese, and whole grains.

At this time, the 2021 Good Food Box Program is only available through our partner organizations. These partners include:

  • BC Housing Washington Apartments
  • Maple Pool Campground
  • Comox Valley Family Services
  • The Wachiay Friendship Centre
  • Cumberland Food Share
  • The Head Injury Society

Our Hot Meal program provides hot lunches to individuals, delivered through our partner organizations. Partners for the Hot Meal program include:

  • Better at Home
  • The Sonshine Lunch Club
  • Maple Pool Campground
  • Comox Valley Senior Support Society
  • Comox Valley Affordable Housing Society
  • Indigenous Education

If you need food support, and are not involved in one of our partner organizations, please scroll down, fill out our form, and your name will be added to our waiting list for the 2021 Good Food Box program. If you are already enrolled in the program, there is no need to reapply.

Food Donations and Recovery
LUSH Valley relies on collaboration with many community partners to make our Food Share program a success. Our program accepts donations of produce and commercially prepared foods (like bread, bakery items, dry and canned goods) that are of reasonable and consumable quality. These donations may come from a variety of sources such as farms and local producers, grocery stores and other food product retailers, restaurants and institutional kitchens (like school or hospital food programs). We can arrange for pick-up for food donations or for donors to drop off at their convenience.

Good Food Boxes are for people in need of food support.

While we are taking requests, please note that your completion of this form does not confirm that you will receive food immediately.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If you are an agency with the capacity to distribute food and/or grocery gift cards to existing clients who are unable to access food due to financial limitations, please complete the form below.

During these difficult times we must all work together to #flattenthecurve to slow the spread of the virus. The best way for us to take care of ourselves and each other is by:

  1. Not going out when you are sick or have the following symptoms (cough, fever, sore throat, runny nose, sneezing).
  2. Practice ‘social distancing’ which means keeping 2 metres (6 feet) away from others whenever possible.
  3. Do not touch your face with your hands (without washing them first).
  4. Wash your hands before eating and after returning home (with soap for 20 seconds).

Thank you for your commitment to the continued health of our community.
