On Wednesday June 12th, Maurita Prato, Executive Director of LUSH Valley, and Andrea Cupelli, Coordinator of the Comox Valley Coalition to End Homelessness, are teaming up to present their draft action plan entitled ‘Closing the Loop on Food Security – addressing food security and local food needs for people living in social housing.’
For the last few months, Prato and Cupelli have hosted multiple community meetings and focus groups to glean knowledge from local growers and food producers, housing providers, and people living with housing insecurity. The idea is to create a plan that will bring more locally-grown food and food skills programs to people living in social, supportive and transitional housing.
The draft plan to be presented on June 12 will highlight the four main initiatives that came out of this work and outline how these initiatives can be achieved over the next three years.
The public is welcome to attend and provide feedback at this free presentation to be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room on the 2nd Floor of the Sino Canadian Centre, 576 England, Avenue, Courtenay.
