The sudden closure of the Comox Valley Food Bank has forced us to restrategize the Emergency Food Share Response Plan that LUSH Valley and the Comox Valley Food Policy Council have been working on. The release of our new Helpline phone number and online resources will be delayed a couple of days as we work to find space to operate from and/or help the Foodbank reopen. We are also in contact with Public Health for guidance, to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and the people who need food.
Please be patient as we mobilize with our community partners to determine the next steps.
While we appreciate that many people are frightened and hungry, and others want to step up to help by calling or emailing us, please DO NOT send us emails or call until we announce that we are in a position to accept communication for food requests, food donations and other help. Until we have answers, these calls and emails are pulling us away from the organizational work we are doing. Thank you for your understanding.
In the meantime, here’s what you CAN DO:
1) Donate money to LUSH Valley to enable us to buy grocery store gift cards and food from wholesalers for food hampers. E-transfers to admin@lushvalley.org or online through Canada Helps.
2) Follow our social media pages for further updates.
3) Reach out to your neighbours to see if they need help and if you are able to help them.
4) Stay home and stay safe.
