We are proud to introduce to you our new pilot, the LUSH Valley School Garden program!
LUSH Valley is collaborating with eight Comox Valley schools to engage our community’s youth in local food systems. Each school will participate in a number of curriculum-based workshops this spring and fall to educate students on how they can create, maintain, and enjoy their garden spaces and grow their own food.
Spring workshops include Life Cycle of a Plant and All About Soils.
In addition to teaching students, LUSH Valley will guide teachers in making seasonal plans and support them in using the gardens as outdoor learning spaces that incorporate curriculum material. LUSH Valley staff and volunteers will continue to visit the sites and provide support throughout the summer months.
